The TL DR is: I'd say that digging a 2-tall, 1-wide tunnel through Y 17 and Y 18 (with Y 16 visible below your feet and Y 19 visible above your head) is the best way to go.īut you don't have to take my word for it! I've looked at the official ore distribution chart, and I know it's been said that there is no single best Y level for mining anymore, but I think there's a good case to be made that there is still a best level- or a very good all-around level, at least.
